Pension Legal Expert to Address Barbados and EC Pension Risks
Randy Bauslaugh leads the national Pensions, Benefits & Executive Compensation practice of McCarthy Tétrault, one of Canada’s leading law firms. Mr. Bauslaugh advises Canadian and International employers, administrators and governments on a broad range of plan governance matters, including compliance, structure and best practices. He also has more than 30 years’ experience with many critical matters relating to plan mergers, divisions, and surplus / deficit management.
Workshop One: Steps to Reduce Legal Risk
Effective governance is not only about risk management and compliance. Effective governance can have a direct impact on the success of a pension plan. Governance laws in Barbados are based on Canadian models. Mr. Bauslaugh will share some recent developments in the law and best practices, including some keys to effective governance, such as structure, proper discharge of the duty of care, managing conflicts of interest, delegation, and policy development, including investment policy development.

Pension Systems Expert to Discuss the Dangers of Data Management
Art Beauchamp leads the Client Relationship team of Penad Pension Services Limited, a leading provider of DB, DC, Civil Service, and Social Insurance pension administration software systems. Mr. Beauchamp has worked in the Caribbean region and internationally implementing massive pension systems for over thirty years. He helps pension plan sponsors to address critical issues for successful implementations.
